Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Common applicable standards include ASME B30.9 for slings, EN 1492-1 for flat woven webbing slings, EN 1492-2 for round slings, EN 818-4 for chain slings and ISO 7531 for wire-rope slings. Certification and proof testing depend on sling type, jurisdiction and purchaser requirements.
Class Approval Lifting slings may be supplied with test certificates and inspected under requirements accepted by DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas or ClassNK. Class approval is not universal and must be verified for the specific sling, vessel, flag administration and lifting appliance.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Verify the sling WLL, leg angle, load weight and center of gravity before use. Connect only to suitable certified lifting points and hardware. Protect synthetic and wire-rope slings from sharp edges, avoid knots or twists, and follow the manufacturer's load chart.
Maintenance Tips Inspect before each use and perform periodic examinations by a competent person. Check for cuts, abrasion, heat or chemical damage, broken wires, corrosion, stretched chain links, damaged fittings and unreadable tags. Clean and store dry, away from sunlight, chemicals and welding activity.
Safety Notes Never exceed the marked WLL or use an unidentified or damaged sling. Account for sling-angle loading, shock loads and temperature or chemical limitations. Keep personnel clear of suspended loads and never shorten, repair or modify a sling except by an authorized competent organization.
