Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Electric winch motors commonly follow IEC 60034 and relevant IEC 60092 shipboard electrical requirements. Hydraulic installations commonly follow ISO 4413. Hazardous-area motors may require IEC 60079 certification. Compliance depends on the selected model and vessel specification.
Class Approval Type approval or individual certification may be available from DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas and ClassNK, depending on manufacturer, model and vessel requirements. Approval must be confirmed against the motor certificate and class rules.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Verify torque, speed, duty, brake capacity, mounting interface and shaft alignment. Use approved foundations, fasteners and flexible couplings. Flush hydraulic lines before connection, or verify electrical voltage, frequency, earthing, insulation and overload protection before commissioning.
Maintenance Tips Inspect seals, bearings, couplings, brakes and mounting bolts. For hydraulic motors, monitor oil cleanliness, pressure, leakage and filter condition. For electric motors, check insulation resistance, terminal tightness, ventilation and bearing lubrication according to the manufacturer schedule.
Safety Notes Isolate and lock out electrical and hydraulic energy before work. Release stored pressure, secure the drum and suspended load, and test the fail-safe brake. Use guards around rotating components and do not exceed rated load, pressure, speed or duty cycle.
