Crane Limit Switches - Deck Machinery and Hull Equipment

Crane limit switches detect travel, hoisting, slewing or boom end positions and interrupt or sequence control circuits. Marine-duty versions use robust, corrosion-resistant enclosures and sealed contacts for exposed deck machinery.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Crane Limit Switches for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Common applicable standards include IEC 60947-5-1 for electromechanical control-circuit devices, IEC 60529 for IP enclosure ratings and IEC 60092 for shipboard electrical installations. Compliance depends on the exact model and configuration.
Class Approval DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas and ClassNK acceptance may be required for safety-critical crane systems. Approval is model-, vessel- and application-specific; verify current type-approval certificates and crane manufacturer requirements.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Mount rigidly at the specified travel endpoint, align the actuator without overtravel, use marine-grade cable glands and maintain the declared IP rating. Wire normally closed safety contacts according to the crane schematic and test all stop directions.
Maintenance Tips Inspect actuator alignment, fasteners, seals, cable entries and enclosure corrosion regularly. Function-test each limit and emergency stop circuit, clean external deposits and replace switches showing contact instability, water ingress or mechanical damage.
Safety Notes Isolate and lock out electrical and hydraulic power before work. Never bypass a limit switch during operation. After adjustment or replacement, conduct controlled no-load testing and verify fail-safe stopping before returning the crane to service.
