Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Commonly specified and installed in accordance with ISO 17558 and EN 13411-4 for socketing of steel wire ropes. Applicable lifting appliances may also require compliance with vessel flag, crane code and manufacturer requirements.
Class Approval Product certification or design approval may be required from DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas or ClassNK, depending on the vessel, equipment category and service. Approval is manufacturer-, model- and application-specific.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Match the socket to the wire rope diameter, construction and strength. Broom and clean the rope end, prepare it according to the socketing compound instructions, align centrally and allow complete metal solidification or resin curing before proof loading.
Maintenance Tips Inspect for corrosion, cracks, deformation, wear, pulled wires and movement of the socketed rope. Keep identification marks legible and remove the assembly from service if damage, overheating or termination slippage is found.
Safety Notes Use only rated sockets with traceable certification. Do not weld, heat, modify or reuse a socket unless expressly permitted by the manufacturer. Proof test and inspect the completed termination before service, and never exceed the approved working load.
