Propellers - Deck Machinery and Hull Equipment

Marine propellers convert engine or motor torque into thrust for vessel propulsion and maneuvering. Common designs include fixed-pitch and controllable-pitch propellers manufactured from corrosion-resistant alloys for specific hull, engine, and operating conditions.

ProShipWorks provides end-to-end support to source and supply Propellers for marine vessels, ship operators, industrial facilities, maintenance teams and procurement departments.

Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Propeller manufacture and inspection commonly follow ISO 484-1 or ISO 484-2 accuracy tolerances, applicable class rules, and approved material, casting, machining, and nondestructive-testing procedures.
Class Approval Propellers may be design-reviewed, surveyed, and certified for a vessel by DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, ClassNK, RINA, or another recognized classification society. Approval depends on vessel class and project requirements.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Verify shaft taper, key, nut, hub fit, rotation, pitch setting, and clearances against approved drawings. Clean mating surfaces, use specified tightening procedures, secure locking devices, and confirm alignment and blade clearance before operation.
Maintenance Tips Inspect blades and hub for cavitation erosion, corrosion, cracks, deformation, fouling, and coating loss. Check CPP hub seals, hydraulic oil, pitch response, and leakage. Repair and rebalance only to maker and class-approved procedures.
Safety Notes Isolate and lock out the propulsion system before inspection or work. Prevent shaft rotation, use certified lifting equipment, and follow confined-space and diving controls. Propeller welding, grinding, straightening, or blade replacement requires approved procedures.
