Standards, Certifications & Class Approval

Review the available standards and approval information relevant to the product. Actual certification, material traceability, inspection and classification requirements depend on the product type, intended application and purchasing specification.

Applicable Standards & Certification Common requirements include DIN 15401 for single crane hooks, DIN 15402 for double hooks, EN 1677 for forged lifting accessories and applicable proof-load and material traceability certificates. The selected standard depends on hook design and crane specification.
Class Approval Hooks for classed shipboard cranes may require material certificates, proof-load records and inspection acceptance by DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas or ClassNK. Approval is product-, crane- and project-specific and should be verified before purchase.

Installation, Maintenance & Safety Information

Installation Notes Confirm the hook WLL, dimensions, pin or bearing arrangement and reeving compatibility with the crane manufacturer. Fit retaining devices correctly, verify free swivel movement and perform the required proof-load and functional tests before service.
Maintenance Tips Inspect regularly for cracks, deformation, throat opening, twist, corrosion, wear and damaged latches. Lubricate swivel bearings where specified and use magnetic-particle or other approved NDT at prescribed intervals. Remove hooks exceeding manufacturer wear limits.
Safety Notes Never exceed the marked WLL or apply side, tip or shock loading. Seat the load in the hook bowl, keep the latch closed and use approved slings. Do not weld, heat, grind or straighten a hook unless expressly authorized by the manufacturer and classification society.
